چکیده

This paper proposes a new equation to show the time domain features of jitter: Jitter = (Ti+1-Ti)/Ti. The subjects are tonal language speakers. Jitter is extracted from EGG signals. The results show that: (1) jitter does not obey Gaussian distribution but multimodal distribution; (2) the first peak position near zero of the jitter distribution curve increases with the pitch; (3) each peak position is an integral multiple of the first peak position; (4) jitter values are around 0, and in most cases, adjacent values have opposite algebraic sign; (5) the zero value percentage and zero-crossing rate of jitter increase with the pitch; (6) the variance of pitch keeps in the allowance of just noticeable difference, which can be attributed to the effect of audible feedback, and it affects the variance of jitter further.

Acoustic and perceptual analysis of vocal tremor

The objective is to present a method to analyze vocal tremor in sustained speech sounds and compare the results with a perceptual scoring of the degree of tremor. The vocal cycle lengths are tracked by salience analysis and dynamic programming. The cycle length time series is then split into three components by empirical mode decomposition: jitter, tremor and trend. Tremor cues are obtained via...

Vocal Parameters of Adults with Down Syndrome in Zahedan /Iran

Background & Aims: Previous studies have indicated significant differences in vocal parameters between children with Down syndrome and normal children, but there are challenges about these differences. In this study vocal parameters and Maximum Phonation Time (MPT) in adults with Down syndrome have been investigated. Method: This cross-sectional and analytic study was performed on 22 adults wit...

Searching for nonlinear relations in whitened jitter time series

Even in sustained vowels, durations of successive glottal cycles are not identical. They fluctuate quasi-randomly around an average. This phenomenon is known as jitter. More recently, correlation analysis has shown that perturbations of neighboring glottal cycles are interdependent, i.e. they are not purely random. We have shown that the non-random component of jitter can be modeled by means of...

Perturbation measurements in highly irregular voice signals: Performances/validity of analysis software tools

In this paper we present results concerning validity of jitter measurement in strongly irregular voice signals (sustained vowels) moderately corrupted by noise. The performance of four tools for voice analysis is compared on synthetic signals as far as fundamental period and jitter estimation are concerned. Synthesised vowels offer the advantage of a perfect control of the amount of jitter put ...

Vocal tremor analysis via AM-FM decomposition of empirical modes of the glottal cycle length time series

The presentation concerns a method that obtains the size and frequency of vocal tremor in speech sounds sustained by normal speakers and patients suffering from neurological disorders. The glottal cycle lengths are tracked in the temporal domain via salience analysis and dynamic programming. The cycle length time series is then decomposed into a sum of oscillating components by empirical mode d...
